Seth Rogen: Stoner Film King

Okay. I was looking through the best stoner movies the internet recommends, and a lot of lists are the same. I obviously want to put out original content so I was a little stuck. But after seeing site after site post about the same kind of movies, I realized what they all have in common: Seth Rogen. Seth is one of my favorite people in comedy cinema. I haven't seen a movie of his that I didn't like. In fact, he was the source behind a sizable amount of my favorite comedies. And they're pretty hilarious to watch high. So, I thought I'd recommend some for the week.

1. Pineapple Express

Genre: Comedy

Rating: R

Where to Stream: Available for rental

This is a must watch in stoner movies. On every recommended page about what to watch when you're absolutely baked, this movie comes up. The storyline itself is hilarious: Starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, a drug dealer and stoner end up on the run after one of them witnesses a murder. They are two opposites, only with each other for the new strain of marijuana "Pineapple Express" and the crime that connected them. This movie is super funny and perfect for that ideal stoner film.

2. Sausage Party

Genre: Animated Comedy

Rating: R

Where to Stream: Hulu

If you like adult animation, this one's for you. It has been claimed to be the first CGI R rated film of it's kind, and they really made it special. With an all-star cast, the story follows ingredients at the local grocery store, but these food items deal with emotions, are in relationships with each other, and experience drama just as humans do. When a few of them are taken home to be cooked, panic ensues. I could only imagine how trippy this would be baked.

3. This is the End

Genre: Comedy

Rating: R

Where to Stream: Available for rental

This movie's sole purpose is to show what it would be like if famous actors were stuck in the apocalypse. Kind of like now, huh? The A-list celebrities are trapped inside James Franco's party, and if they leave, they're dead. The world just disappears. It's fun, hilarious, crazy, stupid in the best ways. If you ever wondered what Seth Rogen would do in the apocalypse, watch this.

4. Knocked Up

Genre: Comedy

Rating: R

Where to Stream: Sling TV

The story of this film is a simple, relatable one: A one night stand leaves a girl pregnant, and neither of them are that suited to be parents. The two navigate around trying to figure out how it will work out. It is a humorous, lighthearted comedy about an unplanned pregnancy starring the comedy legend himself.

5. The Interview

Genre: Comedy

Rating: R

Where to Stream: Netflix

I rewatched this one recently and loved it just as much as the first time. A story about a reporter and his producer traveling to North Korea to interview the dictator Kim Jong Un, who loves their tv show. IRL, The North Korean government was pissed about the release about this movie. It has also been banned in Russia. This one thrives off of it's seriously offensive humor.
